My research involves developing technology that is capable of examining the tissue-device interface at the molecular scale. Medical implants inserted into the body or biomaterials injected into tissue inherently have intimate contact with adjacent cells and tissues. Thus, the effect of material surface topography on cell adhesion and device integration is of great interest and high relevancy for biomedical research and clinical applications. My approach uses expansion microscopy as a technique for attaining nanoscale resolution imaging to examine the tissue-device interface.
