My research focuses on the expansion of an important class of drugs called targeted covalent inhibitors or “TCIs”. Since TCIs irreversibly bind to their target, they can be used to inhibit disease promoting enzymes and as imaging agents. In the Bogyo lab, I take advantage of modern peptide synthesis techniques to design large libraries of covalent cyclic peptides with novel electrophiles for use in a variety of applications. By expanding and improving upon current TCI technology, I hope to widen the landscape of druggable proteins by developing TCIs that can disrupt protein-protein interactions.
